WAG Competition Program
Gymnasts selected to participate in this invitation-only program show motivation and determination to achieve excellence in Gymnastics. This program focuses on strength and flexibility to help with skill development and progression. Commitment for the full year is an expectation in this program. WAG gymnasts are expected to attend four external invitationals and competitions throughout the year.
All gymnasts are expected to attend all training sessions each week; there are no fee reductions for gymnasts who cannot attend full sessions. It is a requirement that gymnasts attend 90% of classes and if this is not met, gymnasts may be removed from the WAG program and offered another program more suitable to their needs.
In 2025 Chamford offers the following WAG competitive programs:
Pre Development
Australian Levels Program Level 1 & 2
Australian Levels Program Level 3 – 9 Limited & Unlimited Hours
Membership TBC
This is a compulsory, annual fee that covers registration and insurance with Gymnastics Australia, and also includes a Chamford membership fee.
Trialling WAG Squad
The first term a gymnast joins a WAG squad group will be a trial term. At the end of this term, the squad coach and the head coach will determine if the program and level are suitable for the gymnast and advise the parents.
Attendance Expectations
Athletes are expected to attend a minimum of 90% of general training to remain within the WAG program. Missed sessions can leave gaps in the gymnast’s development, and class attendance is vital for the progressive and continual development of competition skills and routines
Competition Uniform
All gymnasts must purchase the full Chamford uniform before competition season starts. Uniform items can be ordered through the Office and include a short-sleeve training leo and long-sleeved competition leotard for ALP 3-10, a short-sleeve leo for ALP 1-2, and a club tracksuit for all WAG gymnasts
Competitions Levy
Gymnasts are expected to attend a minimum of 4 of the interclub competitions selected by Chamford. We recommend that gymnasts attend as many competitions each year as possible to develop team spirit and confidence in competing.
Details of the venues and dates of these competitions will be advised in Term 1 of each year, with session times advised 2-3 weeks before each competition. The Competition Levy is invoiced separately to tuition fees and must be paid in full by the due date or gymnasts will not be entered into the competitions.
If your schedule changes and your child can no longer attend a competition, please advise the Chamford Office by email as soon as possible. After a competition has been entered, a refund can only be offered to you if a medical certificate has been supplied to Chamford and a refund has been obtained from Gymnastics Victoria. Refunds will not be available if a gymnast withdraws for non-medical reasons.
As gymnasts train and compete as a team, late withdrawals from a competition may result in the remaining members of the team not being able to compete at that competition due to insufficient numbers.
Holiday Training
Holiday training dates and times will be emailed to parents and can be found on our website. Gymnasts are encouraged to attend training during the school holidays to maintain body preparation (strength and flexibility) and continue skill development. It is advantageous to attend these sessions because they are for competitive gymnasts only and the groups have extended time on apparatus. Holiday training is charged per hour attended and is invoiced early in the following term.
Holiday Training is compulsory during competition season as per the WAG Handbook.
Maintenance and Equipment Levy
All WAG and Gymstar gymnasts are required to pay a $90 Levy with their Term 2 Fees. Other volunteer work may be deemed appropriate by the Head Coach for the Levy to be waived.
Parent Viewing
Parents may only view from the parents’ viewing area. As there is very limited space, parents are welcome to stay for 10 minutes at the beginning of their child’s session and 10 minutes before the session ends.
